Throughout the year we host Supper Clubs at our shop in Margate. Menus are seasonal, using recipes from my family and Campania, and sometimes with friends.

Our good friend and wonderful chef Jessica Leah hails from Malta so we’ll be cooking up a typical Maltese family feast!

"Even though I've been a professional chef for more than 15 years, I haven't had the opportunity to showcase Maltese cuisine professionally. This will be the first time I've ever seen proper Maltese home cooking in a restaurant outside of tiny Malta. Maltese food is so positively impacted by southern Italian cuisine, as well as its Middle Eastern and Arabic influence. This is why this type of food fits in so seamlessly with Simona's classic cooking style. The more we've spoken to each other about food, the more we realise we're coming from the same place..".

6 courses for £50pp. No dietary changes for this Supper Club we’re afraid as the dishes are what they are.

Prickly pear liquor cocktail

Ħobż biż-żejt, bigilla u ġbejniet
A selection of antipasti including sourdough with tomatoes & olive oil, fava bean dip, and a Maltese salt cured sheep’s milk peppered cheeselet 

Whole globe artichoke stuffed with breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley & anchovies 

Kusksu bil-ful u rkotta
Fregola (giant cous cous) cooked in tomato conserve and soffritto with broad beans and fresh cow’s milk ricotta 

Awrat al cartoccio bit-tadam, żebbuġ u kappar
Wild sea bream baked in a parcel with tomatoes, olives and capers

Flett tal-majjal, qarabagħli mimli u patata l-forn bil-bużbież
Marrows stuffed with pork, herbs and Parmigiano, tenderloin of pork, and baked potatoes & fennel 

Cassata Siciliana semifreddo
A take on the traditional Cassata Siciliana made with fresh sheep’s milk ricotta with candied lemon, kumquat and pistachio, served with poached gooseberries

We are delighted to be cooking with our dear friend Rachel O’Sullivan! Rachel spent two and a half years as head chef for Russell Norman’s Spuntino having previously worked at Polpo and Polpetto. She’s a wonderful and talented person with a true love for seasonal cooking and Italy!
We’ll be cooking a 6 course menu. £45. Spaces are limited. A £15pp deposit is required to reserve.
