Dick has owned Woodpecker Farm in Chilham since the 1970's growing amongst other things asparagus, grapes and a whole host of commercial vegetables.
In the 1990's he and Claire started planning the Soil Association Organic farm as it is today. They started with a small flock of Black Rock chickens and now have a 300 layers of mixed breed chickens as well as sheep, horses, dogs, cats and cherry and plum orchards.
The eggs produced are Soil Association Organic Standard, standrads which go beyond the 'baseline' legal requirements for organic farming in the UK. It is the best guarantee of high animal welfare standards in the UK, and Woodpecker Farm is built around the premise that animals must live natural and happy lives. Better for the animals, better for the enviroment, and better for the taste of our food and our health. They are wonderful eggs!
The eggs are laid the day before we make our pasta so the eggs are as fresh as can be.
We feel incredibly fortunate to have such lovely people as Dick and Claire living close by, that are happy to share their wonderful produce and hard work with us and our customers.
